DITL - 2026

It's time for my annual DITL. Every year (save a couple in the middle there), I photograph an entire day of my life. I've been doing it since 2011. So, the girls were 3 when this started, and now they are 17. And we have a record, year by year of what an average day looks like through the ages. Here is 2026.

Wake up, get ready for work. It's 7 a.m.

Throw in a load of laundry and get on the road.

Get to work...new job this year, as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Children's Trust

Work on my to-do lists and project management, and coordinate our presence at a gala later in the month

Met with my communications specialist to get some flyers made.

Natalina has districts for wrestling today, and needs a knee brace, so I pick one up.

Drop it off at home where Carlos is finishing lunch, and Nat is getting ready to go.

Then I head to CBS 4, because even though I don't work there anymore, their production staff is doing a commercial for us.

Visit with my old boss.

Back to the Trust where we work on the Provider Newsletter and an ad in a newspaper during their Newspapers in Education week.

Then I drive home to pick up Dulce, and we head to Nat's tournament about an hour away.

Ready for the matches!

Whole family is here. She wins one of her matches and wrestles really well

Dulce and I stop at Dairy Queen on the way back, and I drop her at home before heading back to work. It's night and the office is closed, but I left early to go to the match and have to finish up some work.

Carlos and Natalina get back a little while later, and I meet him at a restaurant for some dinner and a drink.

After that, we head home and all watch an episode of Stranger Things before bed.

Until next year!

Resolutions - 2026

Ten resolutions for myself, five for the kids. 2025 edition.

10) Pick back up one small thing and keep it afloat.

9) Work out four times a week when able.

8) Read 12 books.

7) Get my shit together (December 2026 Darlena, YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS. LOCK IT UP)

6) Drink 8 glasses of water a day.

5) Stop biting my nails (I started back up when Trump got elected. Not on purpose. Just happened)

4) Impress my new bosses and do well at this new job.

3) Save $20,000

2) Fix three things about the house (maybe doors, columns, windowsill?)

1) Learn Spanish

Kids:

5) Get them into college (Santa Fe is fine).

4) Make sure they are either in extra curriculars or working.

3) Continue to get them dental care (this is very hard for us for some reason)

2) Get them to keep their rooms a little cleaner and/or do their laundry more frequently

1) Keep an open line of communication and honesty to the best of my ability.
